No. 7 Middlebury Defeats Women's Ice Hockey, 5-0
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury College, ranked No. 7 in the latest D3hockey.com Top-10 national poll, defeated Endicott by a 5-0 score on Saturday evening at Kenyon Arena.
The Panthers used five different goal scorers, which included a three-goal second period, to improve to 7-3-3 on the season. Endicott falls to 8-5-2 on the year.
Katherine Jackson (Portsmouth, R.I.) netted two of the three goals in the second period, while Maddie Winslow's (Manchester, Vt.) first period power play goal at 8:31 served as the game-winner. Haley LaFontaine (Summit, N.J.) and Jessica Young (Mission Hills, Kan.) also scored in the second and third periods, respectively, to seal the win.
Senior goaltender Marisa Dreher (Aspen, Colo.) made 12 saves to bump her record to 3-1-0, while Endicott freshman netminder Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) stopped a career-high 48 shots in the loss (6-4-2).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- For the second game in a row, Jonsson recorded a career-high save total in net for the Gulls.
- In a 4-3 victory over Salve Regina on January 9, Jonsson made 36 saves en route to claiming Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Goaltender of the Week honors.
FOR THE FOES
- Middlebury tied its single-game, season-high for goals today. The Panthers have also scored five goals against Trinity this season (November 20).
- Middlebury outshot Endicott, 53-12.

Endicott (8-5-2) hosts Bowdoin on Tuesday, January 19 at Raymond J. Bourque Arena at 7 p.m. The Polar Bears will then travel to Middlebury for a pair of home games on January 22 and 23.
