Endicott Moves to 4-1 on the Season Following Wins Over Colby-Sawyer and Johnson & Wales (R.I.)

BEVERLY, Mass.- Following wins over Colby-Sawyer and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) over the weekend, the Endicott women's ice hockey team has improved to 4-1 on the season and has now out-scored their opponents 33-11.  The Gulls were able to shutout Colby-Sawyer on Saturday by a final of 8-0 before posting eight goals again in the team's 8-1 win over Johnson & Wales.  The team now breaks for the holiday and will return to game action on December 6, when they travel across the bay to take on North Shore and IWCHL North Division rival Salem State at 12:30 p.m.

Game One: Endicott 8 Colby-Sawyer 0 (IWCHL North Division Game)

Endicott was able to claim a big North Division win on the road behind a shutout performance from Melissa Almeida (Foxborough, Mass.) as the Gulls coasted to an 8-0 win over Colby-Sawyer.  Almeida turned away 17 shots to even her record at 1-1 on the season as her counter-part, Ellen Wise, made 23 saves on 31 shots from the Endicott attack.  

The scoring started when Gabby Wiggin (Lebanon, Maine) scored an unassisted goal, her third of the year, just 2:13 into the first period.  Also scoring in the first was Lindsey Sneider (Gorham, Maine) as the junior scored at 10:16 in the first.  Sneider's goal, her third of the season, was assisted by Samantha Parr (Dedham, Mass.) and Katie Saunders (Barrington, R.I.).  For Parr, it was her team leading sixth assist of the season while Saunders' assist was her second.

Endicott's offense exploded for five goals in the second period as Erica Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.), Alicia Steeves (Chelmsford, Mass.), Parr and Martha Crowley (Castleton, N.Y.) would all score to extend the lead to 7-0 after 34 minutes of play.  Guider's third of the year kicked the period off just 45 seconds in as she buried a feed from Gabby Boualavanh (Cape Ceddick, Maine) to give the Gulls the 3-0 lead.  Steeves would then score two straight, her first two of the season, to make it 4-0 Endicott.  Steeves' first game off a feed from Chloe Castellano (Wilmington, Mass.) while her second saw both Parr and Molly McKeow (Longmeadow, Mass.) tally assists.  Parr would then get into the scoring column as well, scoring at the 8:14 mark off an assist from Guider before Crolwey made it 7-0, 14:58 into the second from Wiggin and Castellano.  

Colby-Sawyer's best chance at scoring came in the second at the 13:59 mark when Endicott's Sara Ellis (Weymouth, Mass.) was whistled for called for tripping as the referee awaded the Chargers a penalty shot.  Almeida stood tall in net and stopped the shot, preserving her first shutout of the season.

The Gulls would close the scoring at the 14:36 mark in the third as Castellano and Crowley teamed up to net Castellano her third goal of the season while Crowley picked up her first assist.  Castellano's goal made the score 8-0 in favor of the Gulls, a score that would hold true to the final horn.

Of the six players that had multiple points, Alicia Steeves (Chemlsford, Mass.) led the way with two goals, while Parr and Castellano each chipped in three point nights (1 G, 2A).

Game Two: Endicott 8 Johnson & Wales (R.I.) 1 

Playing their second game in two days, the Gulls were able to use their depth to their advantage as they scored eight goals for the second straight game on their way to an 8-1 win.  With the win, the Gulls moved their record to 4-1 on the season, setting up a pivotal contest on December 6th as Endicott travels to undefeated Salem State (2-0).  Earning the win in net over Johnson & Wales for the Gulls was sophomore MacKenzie Dutton (Andover, Mass.) as she made three saves on the four shots she faced.

Endicott would get on the board first when freshman Kaleigh Daniels (Essex, Vt.) scored her second of the season 1:20 into the first period.  Daniels was assisted by Alyson Alissi (West Hartford, Conn.) and Erica Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.) on her third goal of the season which ties her with seven other Endicott players for tops on the team.  Johnson & Wales would pot the equalizer with 8:02 left in the first when Prachi Joklekar beat Dutton to even the score at 1-1.  Endicott would answer back 30 seconds later when Sam Crowley (Leicester, Mass.) took a feed from Gabby Wiggin (Lebanon, Maine) to pot her third of the year and give Endicott the lead for good at 2-1.  First period scoring closed at the 13:19 mark when Alissi buried her shot past Wildcats goalie Kami Weiner to give Endicott the 3-1 advantage. Alissi's goal was assisted by Daniels and Caroline Robarge (Wilmington, Mass.), giving both their third assists of the season. 

The lone goal in the second saw Guider beat Weiner to lift the score to 4-1 in favor of the Gulls as Lauren Yakush (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) and Parr registered the assists.

Endicott would tack on four more in the third period to close the scoring at 8-1.  Lindsey Sneider (Gorham, Maine) tallied her third of the season 1:40 into the third with the assists going to Parr and Guider.  For Parr, the assist gives her a team leading six on the season while Guider is now tied for third with four.  Wiggin and Sara Ellis (Weymouth, Mass.) would then assist on Alicia Steeves' (Chelmsford, Mass.) first of the game and third of the weekend to make the score 6-1 with 13:23 remaining in the third.  Endicott's offense would cool for a bit until Robarge would net her first of the game with the first assist going to Crowley while Megan Theodore (Dartmouth, Mass.) earned the second.  The scoring would close at the 12:33 mark as Kelsey Goetjen (Simsbury, Mass.) scored her first of the year with assists going to Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) and Yakush.

With the win, Endicott improves to 4-1 and will return to game action on December 6, when they travel across the bay to take on North Shore and IWCHL North Division rival Salem State at 12:30 p.m.
