UNE Holds Off Women’s Basketball, 75-70

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team lost to the University of New England (UNE), 75-70, on Wednesday night in conference action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Endicott featured five student-athletes in double-figures on the night, highlighted by Emily Pratt's (Gardner, Mass.) team-high 16 points.

Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) also contributed 13 points, while Shannon Gilbert (Easton, Conn.) had 12, and Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) and Lexi Gellerman (West Hartford, Conn.) both notched 10 points each, respectively.

Trailing 57-42 at the end of the third, the Gulls produced a 23-13 run to put the game within reach at 70-65 with 54-seconds remaining in the contest. Pratt led the charge with a team-high 10 points during the spurt, while Gilbert notched eight points. Endicott also saw Putnam compile three points and Morgan Bresnahan (Wilmington, Mass.) sink two free throws during the run.

From there, UNE went 5-for-8 from the free throw line despite seeing Gellerman bury a three-pointer with 21-seconds to go (74-68) and Putnam bank home a fast-break layup at the 14-second mark (75-70) to come away with the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Pratt scored 15 of her 16 points in the second half.
  • Endicott outpaced UNE in points in the paint (30-28), points off turnovers (27-22), second-chance points (10-3), and fast-break points (8-2).
  • The Nor'easters set season-highs in made free throws (28) and free throw attempts (33) in tonight's game.
  • UNE also doubled Endicott at the free throw line (28-33 to 12-15).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-4, 0-1 CCC) hosts Western New England on Saturday, December 7 at 1 PM. UNE (6-2, 2-0 CCC) welcomes Salve Regina to its campus this Saturday at 1 PM.
