Albertus Magnus Tops Women’s Basketball, 73-65

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team fell to Albertus Magnus College, 73-65, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.

Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls' efforts with 19 points and 13 rebounds (both team-highs).

Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) also filled the stat sheet with six points, five boards, a game-high eight assists, two blocks, and a steal, while Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) notched 11 points via a perfect shooting performance (5-5 FG, 1-1 FT) off the bench in 16 minutes played.

Trailing 31-21 with 9:25 left in the third quarter, Endicott responded with a 26-15 run over an 8:49 span to take a brief 47-46 advantage with 36-seconds remaining. St. Thomas scored all 11 of her points during the spurt, while Pratt contributed 10 of her own. Lexi Gellerman (West Hartford, Conn.) also buried a trey and Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) canned a layup to account for the remainder of the scoring in the Gulls' run.

From there, Albertus Magnus retook the lead on its next possession to end the third at 48-47, and fended off two more lead changes in the fourth quarter to come away with the eventual victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls led by as many as five points on two separate occasions in the fourth (55-50, 7:22 | 57-52, 6:04) before Albertus Magnus used 16-2 run (68-59) from 5:51 to 2:26 and never looked back.
  • Today's game featured six ties and 11 lead changes.
  • Albertus Magnus has won four games in a row dating back to November 20. Victories during that run include Springfield (71-67), Fitchburg State (87-71), Western Connecticut State (71-63), and Endicott.
  • The Falcons are 2-0 at home this season.
