Women’s Basketball Pulls Away From Bridgewater State, 95-69

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Bridgewater State University, 95-69, on Wednesday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) led all scorers with 21 points (8-17 FG, 3-5 3PT, 2-2 FT) to go along with nine rebounds (one offensive), four assists, and a steal. 

Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) also contributed 18 points and seven boards, while Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.), Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.), and Morgan Bresnahan (Wilmington, Mass.) all produced double figures in the scoring column with 17, 12, and 10 points, respectively. 

Meanwhile, Olivia Duncan (Essex Junction, Vt.) registered six points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Lexi Gellerman (West Hartford, Conn.) compiled eight points, four rebounds, and four assists to round out the list of individual highlights.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Pratt is now tied for 11th all-time in scoring at Endicott with 1,059 points.
  • Tonight's game featured five tied scores and nine lead changes.
  • Endicott's biggest lead was 26 points with 24-seconds remaining in the contest (93-67).
  • The Gulls outscored Bridgewater State 57-36 in the second half after going into the break with a 38-33 advantage.
  • In the third quarter, Endicott used a 24-14 run over a 7:01 span (10:00-2:59) to create a 15-point cushion it never relinquished. During that run, Putnam had a team-high nine points, while, the Gulls scored eight points of their 24 points on the fast break.
  • In total, Endicott outscored the Bears 12-0 in transition.
  • Bridgewater State did bring the contest back within single digits on two different occasions, but the Gulls exploded in the fourth quarter outscoring the visitors 31-14 to shore up the victory.
  • Putnam and Rogers took over in the second half as the duo combined for 31 points (Putnam 17, Rogers 14).
  • Endicott shot 55.1-percent from the field (38-for-69), which marks its highest field goal percentage in a game since February 10, 2018 vs. Wentworth (W, 95-56, 58.5%).
  • Laugeni also hauled in eight rebounds (four offensive), dished out two assists, had two blocks, and one steal in her collegiate debut tonight.

Endicott (1-0) will host No. 5 nationally ranked Bowdoin on Saturday, November 16 at 2 PM. Bridgewater State (0-1) will welcome UMass Dartmouth to its campus on Tuesday, November 19 at 7 PM.
