CCC SEMIFINALS: No. 1 Endicott Tops No. 5 Curry, 67-51, To Advance To CCC Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team welcomed Curry College to MacDonald Gymnasium for the semifinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament and the Gulls came away with a 67-51 victory to advance to the CCC Championship. 

The first quarter was tightly contested with seven lead changes and three ties but the Gulls came out on top with an 18-16 lead at the end of the frame. 

Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) became the 12th student-athlete in program history to hit the 1,000 career point mark at the 3:22 mark of the second quarter as she and the Gulls never looked back, going on to a decisive 67-51 victory. 

Leading Endicott offensively was Shannon Gilbert (Easton, Conn.) with 17 points (7-9 FG, 2-4 3PT, 1-3 FT), while Pratt was close behind with 15. Rounding out the double-digit scoring for the Gulls was Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) with 11 points. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls lead the overall series with Curry, 30-7. 
  • Endicott defeated Curry during both of the regular season matchups by scores of 84-65 (11/28/18) and 62-52 (1/26/19). 
  • With the win, the Gulls advance to the CCC Championship for the first time since 2011-12. 
  • Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. 
  • Catie Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) led the team in assists (4) and steals (3), while Emma Tierney (Wolfeboro, N.H.) recorded three blocks. 
  • Leading the Colonels were Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) and Peyton Perine (Fairfax, Va.) with 25 and 22 points, respectively. 

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 1 Endicott (18-8, 13-3 CCC) will host No. 3 Western New England (19-8, 11-5 CCC) for the CCC Championship game on Saturday, February 23 at 2 PM.
