MILTON, Mass. – Sparked by a strong third quarter performance, the Endicott women's basketball team claimed a 62-52 conference victory over Curry College on Saturday afternoon at Katz Gymnasium.
The Gulls' red-hot third quarter featured a 13-8 run (10:00-4:09) that helped establish their first double-digit lead of the contest (43-33), and, more importantly, never allowed Curry to bring the game back under five points the rest of the way. In total, Endicott shot a quarter-best 46.7% (7-15) from the field in the third. That figured also matched the Gulls' first quarter output.
Juniors Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) and Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) fueled the third quarter spurt as the duo compiled seven and four points, respectively, during that span. Meanwhile, classmate Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) capped the offensive outburst with a jumper at the 4:09 mark.
Overall, Putnam finished with a career-high (tied) 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor (2-3 3PT, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, and one steal. Nine of her 22 points came in the third quarter.
The Gulls also saw Pratt notch 21 points (6-13 FG, 2-3 3PT, 7-9 FT), eight rebounds and five steals, while Rogers nearly a double-double via nine points and 10 rebounds (nine defensive).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 29-7 in the all-time series against Curry.
- The Gulls are 6-2 on the road this season.
- Endicott is 7-1 in the month of January.
- The Blue and Green own a 7-0 record in 2018-19 when they shoot 40% or better from the field (41.2% in today's win).
