MIT Defeats Endicott, 74-51

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team fell to MIT, 74-51, on Thursday night in non-conference action at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) led the Gulls with 17 points, while Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) and Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) finished with eight points apiece. Coppola also compiled a game-high five steals. 

Trailing 14-11 late in the first quarter (1:36 remaining), MIT used a 23-4 run over the next 8:07 of play to jump out to a 34-18 lead (3:29 remaining) and maintained its advantage the rest of the way. Taylor V'Dovec (Blaine, Wash.) fueled the run with 10 points, while the Engineers also saw five more student-athletes contribute two or more points during the spurt. 

MIT scored the majority of its points in the second and third quarters (27, 23) and also won the rebounding matchup, 42-21 to win its fifth game in a row. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Kiernan has registered double-digit points in six games this season.
  • Cassandra Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) posted a career-high seven points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3PT) off the bench.
  • MIT evened up the all-time series at 3-3 with tonight's win. 

FOR THE FOES

  • V'Dovec paced all scorers with 23 points (8-9 FG, 1-1 3PT, 6-6 FT) to go along with four rebounds, one steal and a block.
  • Kara Holinski (Livonia, Mich.) ranked second on the team in points with 12 total (5-7 FG, 2-3 3PT).
  • Kristen Ngan (Sudbury, Mass.) contributed nine points, while Kylie Gallagher (Upton, Mass.) and Dolly Yuan (San Jose, Calif.) both had eight points.
  • Yuan collected a game-high six assists, which marks the fourth game this season she has had five or more assists in a contest. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (4-4) travels to Brandeis on Friday, December 29 at 1 PM. MIT (6-2) hosts the College of Staten Island on Friday, December 29 at 2 PM.
