WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team placed four student-athletes in double figures in an 81-50 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Gordon College Saturday afternoon inside the Bennett Center.
With the win, Endicott improved to 9-6 overall and 7-1 in the CCC, while Gordon dropped to 4-11 on the season and 0-8 in conference play.
The Gulls led all the way, as Endicott jumped out to an 11-0 advantage until freshman guard Olivia Stark (Arvada, Colo.) got the Fighting Scots on the board with a layup with 3:54 remaining in the first quarter.
Senior guard Kelsey Cuddy (Madison, Conn.) led all scorers with eight points in the first half as Endicott coasted to a 19-9 edge at the of the quarter and took a 33-19 lead into halftime.
Endicott did its most damage coming out of the locker room, as the team put out a 25-point quarter behind 8-of-13 from the field, 3-3 at three-point range and 6-of-6 at the free throw line in the third quarter.
Entering the final quarter of play up 58-37, Endicott strung together the second part of a 48-point second half effort with 23 points coming off the hands of eight different Gulls.
Cuddy paced all Endicott scorers with 18 points to lead the Gulls, in addition to four rebounds, four assists, six steals and one block.
BEYOND THE BOX
- The teams pulled down an identical 34 rebounds.
- The Gulls forced 21 turnovers, while losing just seven of their own for the fewest turnovers of the season.
- Endicott went over the 1,000 point mark on the season through 15 games as the team has now scored 1,002 points.
- Endicott hit a season-high 21-of-25 from the charity stripe, good for a season-high 84 percent.
- The Gulls' 54.5 percentage (6-of-11) was the team's highest conversion percentage of three pointers on the season.
- Senior forward Caity Lowry (Quincy, Mass.) scored a career-high 10 points.
FOR THE FOES
- After starting the season 3-0, the Fighting Scots have lost 11 of their last 12 games.
- Gordon placed three student-athletes in double figures as freshman guard Olivia Stark (Arvada, Colo.), freshman forward Jamie Tafoya (Fort Collins, Colo.) and sophomore forward Kristen Smith (Littleton, Mass.) tallied 12 points and 10 points each, respectively.
NOTES
- Endicott is 21-10 all-time and 10-6 on the road at Gordon dating back prior to the 2002 season.
- The Gulls won the most recent meeting before today, 68-52, in Wenham, Mass. on Jan. 31, 2015.
- Endicott has won the past 17 consecutive head-to-head matchups.
