Vikings Down Gulls, 69-54

Salem, MA - A poor first half performance by the Gulls was too much to overcome as host Salem State defeated Endicott 69-54 tonight. The Gulls fought back in the second half, outscoring the Vikings and even pulling within 3, but Salem State (7-2) held on for the non-conference win.

The Vikings stormed out to a commanding 15-3 lead in the first five minutes of the game putting EC on their heels. The Gulls shot a miserable 15% in the first half as numerous shots rattled in and out of the hoop. The score at the break read 35-19.

The Gulls stepped up their play in the second half improving their field goal shooting to 42%. After exchanging baskets with the Vikings in the first minute, the Gulls went on a 21-4 run to pull within 3 at 10:35. Junior Sarah Voigt sparked the Gulls off the bench rebounding on both ends of the glass while adding 8 points in her effort. Liz Yuneman was the only Gull to score in double figures with 17 points.

Endicott (3-7) returns to conference action on Saturday, January 15th versus Salve Regina. The 1:00 game hosted by the Gulls will be Endicott's second home game of the season.
