BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team continued Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament play at the Softball Complex and was handed a 2-1 (8 innings) loss by Western New England.

The Gulls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Lindsee Allienello (East Providence, R.I.) got Endicott started with a single to the shortstop. Gina DeMilt (Princeton, N.J.) laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runner to second before Jamie Hopgood (Warwick, R.I.) ripped a double to left field in order to send Allienello home.

Western New England responded in the sixth inning with a run of its own to tie the game at 1-1.

With the score tied through regulation, the game headed into extra innings. The Golden Bears were able to get a run on the board to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth and then shut the Endicott offense down in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.

Maggie Oram (Lexington, Mass.) got the start in the circle for the Gulls and shifted to 11-2 on the season. She registered seven strikeouts and allowed five hits and two runs.
