BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott softball team recorded a doubleheader sweep of Wellesley this afternoon at the Endicott Softball Complex. The Gulls posted a 12-4 (6 innings) win in the first game and then an 8-0 (5 innings) victory in the second contest.

GAME ONE: Endicott 12, Wellesley 4

Wellesley got on the board first and took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

The Gulls tied it up at 2-2 in the bottom of the second. Emily Sharpe (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) got on base with a single through the right side and went on to score after a single from Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.). Hayley Arduini (Southington, Conn.) then sent Favreau home on a sacrifice fly to center.

Endicott tallied four runs in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 6-2. The Gulls' offense during the inning was led by Favreau with a triple and Lindsee Allienello (East Providence, R.I.) with a double.

In the fourth inning, Endicott added three more runs before the Blue responded with two runs in the top of the fifth.

The late surge by Wellesley wouldn't be enough, however, as the Gulls tallied one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to end the game.

Rylie Strong (Arvada, Colo.) got the start on the mound and improved to 1-1 on the season with three strikeouts. Mikaela Mallozzi (Shelton, Conn.) finished out the game and recorded one strikeout.

GAME TWO: Endicott 8, Wellesley 0

The Gulls jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap as they tallied two runs in the first inning and one run in the second.

Endicott went on to hold the Blue scoreless and record five runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the doubleheader sweep.

Offensively the Gulls were led by Gina DeMilt (Princeton, N.J.), who went 2-for-3 from the plate with a double and three RBI and Hannah Llewellyn (Danvers, Mass.), who went 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Laura Somerville (Suffield, Conn.) got the start and pitched all five innings to earn the win. She struck out three batters while only allowing two hits and improved to 4-0 on the season.
