Hopgood, Hamill, Favreau Sweep CCC Athlete of the Week Awards

CCC WEEKLY AWARD RELEASE

BEVERLY, MA. – A trio of Endicott softball student-athletes swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Jamie Hopgood (Warwick, R.I.) was named Player of the Week, Michaela Hamill (Lynn, Mass.) earned Pitcher of the Week, and Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.) was tabbed Rookie of the Week. 

Hopgood went 15-for-26 at the plate as the Gulls went 6-2 this past week during their Spring Break trip to Florida. Of her 15 hits, seven were doubles and three were home runs. Hopgood also hit .688 with runners on and was 4-for-6 with two outs and also drove in 5 RBI when she was up with two outs. 

Hamill went 3-0 on the mound for Endicott during the week. She pitched a full seven innings on March 12 during a 3-0 win over Rutgers-Newark. She allowed two hits and struck out one during that outing. Hamill also pitched seven innings on March 15 against UMass-Boston and allowed three hits with three strikeouts. She finished up the week with two hits and three strikeouts in five innings pitched during an 8-5 victory over Bethel (Minn.) on March 16. 

Favreau saw action in all eight games and recorded 11 hits throughout the week with four doubles and four RBI. On March 12 she went 3-for-3 from the plate with 2 RBI during a 15-7 win over Smith. Favreau also ended the week batting .667 with runners on third and less than two outs. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (8-2) hosts Nichols on Saturday, March 24 for a doubleheader. The first game starts at 12 p.m. with the second scheduled for 2 p.m.
