Bilafer and Couto Tab CCC Weekly Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) released their weekly awards and two members of the Endicott softball team have been recognized for their efforts last week. Senior tri-captain Jesse Bilafer (Concord, Mass.) has earned her first Player of the Week nod of the season while freshman Rachel Couto (Chelmsford, Mass.) makes her debut on the weekly honors with her first career Rookie of the Week honor.

Endicott went 5-2-1 last week going perfect in CCC play and dropping a tough doubleheader to Wellesley and tying with Salem State. Endicott improves to 17-6-1 (9-1 CCC).

Bilafer helped lead the Gulls to an impressive 5-2-1 week as she posted a .952 slugging percentage and a .524 batting average. The senior posted at least one hit in every Endicott game this past week and was second on the squad in RBIs with 9. The shortstop's week was highlighted in game two vs. Salem State where she took a big part in leading the Gulls to a tie after being down by six runs entering the second to last inning. In the sixth inning Bilafer cranked a grand slam to make it a 2 run game, which pumped up the team to score two more in the seventh before the game was declared a tie due to the dark. Bilafer currently holds an impressive .982 fielding percentage along with totaling 48 putouts at short.

Couto had another impressive showing for the Gulls as she played in every game this past week as the Blue and Green improved to 17-6-1 (9-1 CCC). Couto earned at least one hit in every game while posting two in five of the eight games. The freshman recorded a .739 slugging percentage on the week going towards her seven ribbies. Couto also posted four doubles to go along with her 13 hits. Couto is currently second on the team in RBIs (20) and third on OBP (.493). Couto primarily plays third base for the Blue and Green where she has recorded a .984 fielding percentage on the season and added 14 putouts.

Endicott will see action next on Tuesday, April 15th as they travel to non-conference foe Babson for a doubleheader at 3/5PM.
