Gulls Capture CCC Weekly Honors

BEVERLY, MA - Three Endicott players earned Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly honors as the Gulls captured their fifth straight CCC title and NCAA Tournament berth.

CCC Player of the Year Meghan Sargent (Salisbury, MA/Triton) was also named the CCC Player of the Week after helping her team to its fifth consecutive conference title. Sargent hit .625 (5-for-8) in a 3-0 week with three doubles, five runs scored, and four RBI. She also had an on-base percentage of .700 and was 2-for-3 with RBI in championship game against Roger Williams.

Jenn Elwell (Tewksbury, MA/Shawsheen Tech) was named the CCC Pitcher of the Week after going a perfect 3-0 with a 0.00 earned run average to lift the Gulls to the conference championship. In 19 innings of work, she allowed nine hits, walked five, and struck out 12. Only one of nine hits went for extra bases.

Shortstop Jenna Lazar (Milton, MA/Milton) was named the CCC Rookie of the Week after the freshman batted .333 (3-for-9) with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. She also played error free defense, successfully fielding all 12 chances in the three games.

The Gulls went 3-0 in the conference tournament, winning their fifth title in as many years and after going 30-10 and winning the CCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament EC will play in the NCAA Providence, RI Regional against Keene State at Rhode Island College on Thursday at 12:00 pm.
