Gulls Beat Regis in Game One

The Gulls improved their record to 3-0 in CCC play beating Regis College in Game One of today's double header. The Gulls attacked first scoring two runs in the top of the first. Leadoff hitter Paula McGinn started it off with a walk and advanced to third on a fielder's choice. Elyse Colby then reached on an error by the second baseman and advanced to second on the error while McGinn dashed home with the games first run. Rachel Pearson continued her hit streak with an RBI double, scoring Colby.

In the 3rd inning, McGinn singled by beating out a bunt and Colby followed two batters later with a single advancing to second base on a throw trying to catch the speedy McGinn at third, to no avail. With runners on second and third, Megan Huckins hit a hard grounder to the pitcher which led to the fielder's choice RBI.

In the 4th inning, Laura Schack started things off with a triple. Nicole Reather followed with a walk and advanced to second, when Schack was caught in a rundown between third base and home plate. Morgan Finegan then punched one over the shortstop for the RBI single.

With the bases loaded in the 6th inning, Ashley Labella would smack an RBI single to leftfield as the Gulls tacked on the game's fifth and final run.

Robyn Savitske once again was in command on the mound. Savitske faced only one batter over the minimum 21 in a seven inning game in route to improving her record to 7-0. She allowed only one hit and one walk while fanning 10 in route to the shutout.
