Gulls Beat Regis 9-1
The Gulls were able to improve their record to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play by sweeping Regis in the second game of the doubleheader. The Gulls wasted no time in starting up the scoring as the top of the first saw Ashley Labella single and reach second when Elyse Colby followed her with a single of her own. With runners on first and second, Rachel Pearson smashed a 3-run homerun over the left field fence.

The second inning also saw the Gulls add a run when Nicole Reather walked and advanced to second base on a fielder's choice. Reather then moved up to third on a passed ball. Paula McGinn walked and stole second, which Reather advanced home on the throw trying to nab McGinn.

In the 4th inning, Regis would tack on one run but the Gulls would add two more runs in the 5th inning. Labella started it off with a single, and advanced to second with heads up baserunning. Colby followed with an RBI single, and advanced to second on the throw home. Megan Huckins then followed with an RBI singled of her own.

With the score 6-1 entering the top of the 6th, the Gulls would tack on three more runs and win the game by the 8-run rule. McGinn walked and stole second advancing home on another Labella single. Colby singled, advancing Labella to second and both moved into scoring position on a passed ball. In Kelly Bregman's first collegiate at-bat, she hit a 2-run double to leftfield.

The Gulls played well defensively and Nicole Reather was stellar on the mound. She pitched six strong innings, while allowing only 3 hits and striking out 2. She did not allow an earned run and had no walks as well. Reather improved her record to 3-2 overall.

The Gulls will play tomorrow in a CCC doubleheader against Eastern Nazarene in Quincy, Ma.
