Stats

The second game of the day for the Gulls was against Claremont McKenna (CA). The Gulls put freshman Nicole Reather on the mound to start her first ever collegiate game. Reather did a good job, pitching six strong innings while only giving up 1 earned run and striking out 4.

The game's scoring started in the 2nd inning when Ashley Fricks reached on a throwing error by 3rd baseman Kacy Beloin. She moved over to third on a fielder's choice and scored on a single by Kristen Linscott.

In the 6th inning, Deena Opp and Alexa Perry both singled leaving runners at 1st and 2nd base. Kacy Nekoba singled, allowing Opp to score McKenna's second run.

The Gulls made it interesting in the top of the 7th inning, when leadoff hitter, Megan Young hit a double in the left centerfield gap. Jennilee Danielson then reached on an error by the catcher, leaving runners at the corners. Adrienne Guzman then grounded into a fielder's choice scoring Young leaving the Gulls only behind one run. Pinch hitter Katie Doherty reached on a single, putting runners on first and second, but the comeback ended there and the Gulls lost another close one.

The Gulls will play next Monday March 15 versus both Macalester College and Concordia College (WI).
