Men’s Cross Country Shines In “Battle Of The North Shore” Meet

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott men's cross country team remained undefeated in the "Battle of the North Shore" meet on Saturday morning as the Gulls took down host Gordon College (20-35) and Salve Regina University (15-42).

Today's win for the Gulls marks their third straight "Battle of the North Shore" victory since the dual meet series against Gordon began in 2017. With the addition of Salve Regina to today's meet, the head-to-head matchup between Endicott and Gordon was scored separately from the overall standings in order to award the winning team the "Battle of the North Shore" lighthouse trophy.

As for Endicott individually, the Gulls placed all five of their scoring runners inside the top-6 to dominate the field.

Adam Germaine (Guilford, Conn.) paced Endicott in second place with a time of 17:11 on the 5-kilometer course, while Will Connelly (Barrington, R.I.), Jack McGuire (Hopkinton, Mass.), Marcus Poccia (West Greenwich, R.I.), and Zachary Heffernan (Biddeford, Maine) all followed in third (17:22), fourth (17:24), fifth (17:36), and sixth (17:39), respectively.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Endicott's 28-second gap between its top-5 is the smallest margin ever recorded by the Gulls in the three-year history of the "Battle of the North Shore" meet.
  • Despite a fast start to the race, the Blue and Green were patient, stay connected, and used a pack mentality through roughly the first mile and a half of the course before taking over for the victory.
  • In the three-year history of the meet, Germaine has dropped his time on Gordon's course by 14 seconds or more (2017, 17:46.7 | 2018, 17:32.8 | 2019, 17:11).
