Men’s Cross Country Bests Gordon College In Dual Meet

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott men's cross country team topped host Gordon College in "The Battle of the North Shore" on Saturday morning by a score of 23-34.

Joshua Knight (Oxted, England) paced the Gulls by winning the 5-kilometer race with a time of 17:14, which clocked in at 15.9-seconds faster than the race's second place finisher.

Meanwhile, the rest of his teammates secured five spots inside the top-10 to lock up the dual meet victory.

Adam Germaine (Guilford, Conn.) was third with a time of 17:32.8, while Will Connelly (Barrington, R.I.) and Marcus Poccia (West Greenwich, R.I.) were fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 17:52.2 and 17:54.8. Jack McGuire (Hopkinton, Mass.) also placed eighth (18.39.3) and Samuel Page (Plainville, Mass.) finished 10th overall with a time of 18:52.1.

"I was very happy with how they executed the race.  It was important to see them running in packs and progressing throughout," said Endicott men's cross country head coach Spencer Lange. "We are focused on training right now so it's good to see them open things up against competition to motivate them through the next few months.  We still have a lot of work to do but they earned their victories today."

  • Endicott has won the first two "Battles of the North Shore" against Gordon.
  • The Gulls secured nine spots within the top-15 of today's race.
  • Tyler Thornton (Reading, Mass.) placed 11th overall (18:54.4), Zack Heffernan (Biddeford, Maine) crossed the line at 12th place (18:55.4), and Brandon Golding (Pine Bush, N.Y.) rounded out the top-15 for Endicott in 14th place (19:28.6).
