Men’s Cross Country Ranks Fifth At Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. Behind a sixth place finish from senior Zach Marshall (Hinesburg, Vt.), the Endicott men's cross country team ranked fifth overall out of 23 teams at the Saints Invitational on Friday evening at Franklin Park.

Conference foe Wentworth captured first place honors in the meet with 32 points, while Colby-Sawyer was second (100) and Roger Williams came in third (113). Meanwhile, Plymouth State finished fourth (133) and Endicott rounded out the top-5 with 135 points.

Marshall's performance highlighted the day as the senior harrier clocked in at 27:08 on the 8-kilometer course. Patrick Finocchiaro (Salem, N.H.) followed shortly after in 15th place (27:38), while Will Connelly (Barrington, R.I.) finished 22nd overall (28:16). Brian King (Stow, Mass.) was Endicott's fourth runner to finish with a time of 28:59 (49th) and Nicholas Canniff (Arlington, Mass.) concluded the Gulls' top-5 with a time of 29:34 (64th).

"I was happy with how the guys raced, especially in regards to the confidence and composure throughout the race," said Endicott men's cross country head coach Spencer Lange. "Because of that, the guys had some big break throughs which will only help our confidence through the next few week of workouts before conference championships."

  • The Gulls beat cross-town rival Gordon College by 180 points in today's race.
  • Caniff ran a season best time by more than 10 seconds.

Endicott enjoys a week off from competition prior to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships, which take place in Biddeford, Maine on Saturday, October 28.
