CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Men’s Cross Country Earns Runner-Up Honors, Ties Best Finish In Program History

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott men's cross country team tied its best finish in program history on Saturday afternoon at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championships with a second place showing on the 8-kilometer course at Western New England University.

Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) claimed its second straight CCC title scoring 43 points behind three top-5 finishes, while Endicott scored 69 points to rank second. Roger Williams was third overall (87), the University of New England came in fourth (105), and host Western New England concluded the top-5 with 107 points.

Individually for the Gulls, Zach Marshall (Hinesburg, Vt.) led the way in seventh place with a time of 27:11, while Patrick Finocchiaro (Salem, N.H.) followed in ninth (27:26), and James Dwyer (Berlin, Conn.) was tenth (27:29).

Meanwhile, Will Connelly (Barrington, R.I.) came through the finish line at 27:56 for 12th place overall, and Adam Germaine (Guilford, Conn.) clocked a time of 29:27 to secure 31st place, and round out Endicott's top-5.

For his efforts, Connelly was named the CCC Rookie of the Year as the conference's top freshman finisher in today's race.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Marshall, Finocchiaro, and Dwyer all earned CCC All-Conference accolades for ranking inside the top-10 of today's championship race.
  • Marshall is now a two-time CCC All-Conference honoree, while Dwyer and Finocchiaro picked up their first career CCC All-Conference honors, respectively.
  • Connelly is the third CCC Rookie of the Year in program history.
  • In 2001, Endicott finished second at the CCC Championships behind Roger Williams, while in 1999 the Gulls finished second behind Gordon (race was an invitational but considered a CCC title).
