Men’s Cross Country Notches Fifth Place Finish At Western New England Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott men's cross country team took fifth place out of 21 teams on Saturday afternoon at the Western New England University (WNEU) Invitational. Today's 8-kilometer layout at WNEU will also serve as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship course on Saturday, October 29.

SUNY Delhi captured top honors among all 21 teams competing in today's invitational by scoring 34 points – which included four finishes inside the top-10. The University of New England took second (115), and Westfield State finished third (119), while Worcester State rounded out the top-5 along with Endicott as the Lancers edged the Gulls, 130-157.

Individually for Endicott, Zach Marshall (Hinesburg, Vt.) placed 10th overall with a time of 27:28 to pace the squad.

Patrick Finocchiaro (Salem, N.H.) followed closely behind Marshall in 13th place (27:37), while James Dwyer (Berlin, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 27:41 to rank 16th out of 193 runners.

Adam Germaine (Guilford, Conn.) and Brendan Sasse (Westport, Mass.) concluded the Gulls' top-5 with times of 29:16 (57th overall) and 29:36 (67th overall), respectively.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Marshall finished first overall for the Gulls for the second time this season in today's race. As a sophomore, Marshall led Endicott in six out of seven meets.
  • Finocchiaro has finished third or better on the team in four races this year.
  • His second place finish today was his best on the team this fall.

Endicott takes a week off before returning to competition at the CCC championships on Saturday, October 29 at WNEU in Springfield, Mass.
