Currently ranks 4th all-time in solo blocks (46), 7th in aces (89) and 10th in total blocks (206) in Endicott career history.  For single-season rankings, Chapell ranks 9th in total blocks (99- 2006) and 10th in aces (37- 2005) and block assists (82- 2006).

Coaching Philosophy

Chapell enters his 12th season at the helm of the men’s volleyball team at Endicott in 2023-24.

When it comes to recruiting, he is interested in finding student-athletes who have character, talent, and take their academics seriously. He also wants student-athletes who are versatile and able to play multiple positions. 

“We look to have a roster that is competitive from top to bottom, and our guys are pushing each other every day to compete with the tough slate of nationally ranked opponents that we have every year. It is ultimately my job to out-recruit the current roster, and it is the current roster’s job to develop and get better than the recruits coming in. With that mindset, we have an ever-evolving line of development going on in the program,” said Chapell of his mindset while recruiting the incoming class. "A lot of their development will also come from within, whether it be getting the extra reps, taking care of the lifting program, etc. We are looking for guys that are self-motivated and look to motivate their teammates as well."

"Our young men come here knowing that they will be a part of a close-knit family for their four years here, and for the rest of their lives," said Chapell. In addition to competing on the court, the team also volunteers with various community service opportunities around the North Shore area, while a good portion of the roster also takes advantage of Endicott's study abroad opportunities. 

In addition to his coaching duties, Chapell also serves as the Assistant Director of Sports Information.

Chapell resides in Amesbury, Mass. with his wife Samantha and their children, Emilia, George III, Edison, and Henry.
