NCAA TOURNAMENT: No. 8 Endicott Downs St. Joseph’s (L.I.), 3-1

ENDICOTT POST MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 8 nationally ranked Endicott men's volleyball team defeated St. Joseph's (L.I.), 3-1, by scores of 25-13, 25-15, 21-25, and 25-19 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

With the win, the Gulls (26-6) earned their second NCAA Tournament victory in program history and will host No. 4 SUNY New Paltz in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 6 PM. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles' season comes to a close at 25-7 overall.

Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) led Endicott offensively with a match-high 14 kills (.423) to go along with four digs and three block assists.

The Gulls also saw Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) contribute 11 kills (.476), 24 assists, four digs, and four block assists, while Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.) had eight kills (.368), two service aces, five digs, and three blocks (one solo).

As a team, Endicott notched 11.5 blocks (one solo, 21 block assists), which ranks fourth best so far this season. Jacob Newman (Chester, N.H.) was the catalyst at the net for the Gulls as the senior middle combined for six block assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Tonight was the first-ever meeting between Endicott and St. Joseph's (L.I.).
  • Endicott improved to 10-1 at home with tonight's victory.
  • The Gulls' 26 wins this season ranks second best in program history.

No. 8 Endicott (26-6) hosts No. 4 New Paltz (25-7) tomorrow in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal round at 6 PM.
