No. 10 Men’s Volleyball Goes 2-0 At JWU Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 10 nationally ranked Endicott men's volleyball team earned a pair of non-conference victories against Johnson & Wales University (JWU) and Nazareth on Saturday afternoon at the JWU Invitational. In their first match of the day, the Gulls defeated the host Wildcats, 3-0, by scores 25-19, 25-17 and 25-19, and later beat Nazareth, 3-0, by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-13 to complete their perfect day in Rhode Island.

Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.) paced Endicott offensively with a match-high 12 kills (.435).

The Gulls also saw Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) and Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) contribute eight kills, each, while Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) notched seven kills (.312), 20 assists, six digs, and two block assists.

Other individual highlights for Endicott included six kills apiece from Jacob Newman (Chester, N.H.) and Erich Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and a 22-assist/nine-dig performance from Chad Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.).

NO. 10 ENDICOTT 3, NAZARETH 0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-13)

In match two of the day, Lipton guided the Gulls offensively with a match-high 12 kills (.529) alongside two service aces, six digs, and one block assist.

Roman and Dey also pitched in with seven kills apiece, while Felicetti hammered home six kills.

As a team, Endicott hit .367 (33K, 11E, 60TA), which marks the second-highest hitting percentage for the squad in a match this season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Felicetti posted a season-high .615 hitting percentage against JWU (8K, 0E, 13TA).
  • The Gulls are 19-9 all-time against JWU.
  • Endicott has won seven matches in a row in Providence, Rhode Island versus the Wildcats.
  • Today's meeting against Nazareth was the first in program history.

No. 10 Endicott (6-2) takes on Eastern Nazarene and Southern Vermont in a tri-match on Saturday, February 23 in Quincy, Mass. at 11 AM and 1 PM, respectively.
