Endicott Takes Two From Southern Vt. in NECC Opener

BEVERLY, Mass. – In their first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matches of the 2018 season, the Endicott men's volleyball team swept through Southern Vt. with a pair of 3-0 victories inside MacDonald Gymnasium. The Gulls improved to 11-1 (2-0 NECC) this season.

MATCH ONE: ENDICOTT 3, SOUTHERN VT. 0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-5) 

Led by an astounding 10 kills on 11 attempts (.909) by sophomore opposite Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.) as well as 20 assists and five service aces by junior setter Adam Dake (Victor, N.Y.), the Gulls quickly won match one of Saturday's doubleheader.

Dey's effort was part of Endicott's team offensive efficiency which saw the Gulls sport a .575 hitting percentage collectively. Also contributing to that effort were junior middle Seth Braquet (Destrehan, La.) and freshman middle Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) who each had three kills with zero errors.

Freshman outside Justin Kegebein (Liverpool, N.Y.) amassed three kills on four swings over the first two sets but in the third set he switched to the libero jersey and finished the match with a match-high six digs.

MATCH TWO: ENDICOTT 3, SOUTHERN VT. 0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-9) 

Endicott carried their momentum from match one over to the second game with the team against accumulating a high hitting percentage (.588). In match two, senior outside Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) had a match-high seven kills on eight swings while sophomore opposite Tim Fieseler (Bridgewater, N.J.) also had seven kills in the win.

Sophomore setter Chad Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) averaged 11 assists per set as he helped Bozek, Felicetti, sophomore Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and Erich Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) all total four kills apiece.

Defensively, Felicetti, Fieseler, and T. Riorden all had their hands in three block assists during the match to lead all players.

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (11-1, 2-0 NECC) will travel to NECC newcomer Dean on Thursday, February 22 for a match beginning at 7:00 PM. Southern Vt. (0-8, 0-3 NECC) is off until next Saturday when they host conference rival Newbury for a 1:00 PM start.
