Endicott Picked First in NECC Preseason Poll

NECC MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON COACHES' POLL RELEASE

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) office announced its preseason coaches' poll on Friday and the Endicott men's volleyball team earned the top spot.

The Gulls are the 2017 defending champions and will look to capture their sixth straight NECC title. They have also been picked as the preseason favorite for the last seven years in a row, dating back to 2012. 

During the 2017 season, Endicott posted a 21-11 overall record and a 12-0 mark in conference play. The Gulls defeated Elms, 3-0, during the NECC championship match and went on to the NCAA Tournament where they were handed a tough 3-1 loss by Stevens in the first round. 

Endicott was awarded a total of 36 points in the poll, with six first-place votes. Elms was close behind in second with 31 points and one first-place vote, while Eastern Nazarene earned 23 points for third place. 

Newbury (21 points), Southern Vermont (15 points), Dean (13 points), and Lesley (8 points) rounded out the poll. 

The Gulls open the season on Friday, Jan. 19 when they travel to St. John Fisher College and take on D'Youville at 6:00 p.m.
