Lipton, Chapell Highlight Endicott’s NECC All-Conference Honorees

NECC ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE 

BEVERLY, Mass. – Four members of the Endicott men's volleyball program earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) postseason accolades earlier today, highlighted by Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) and head coach George Chapell '08 who claimed Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year honors, respectively, as announced by the league office. 

Along with his Rookie of the Year accolades, Lipton also joined Daniel Toth (Glenwood, N.J.) on the NECC All-Conference first team. Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) rounded out the list of highlights for the Gulls with selections to the NECC All-Conference second team and the NECC All-Sportsmanship Team. 

BRYN LIPTON | ROOKIE OF THE YEAR | ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM 

Among all student-athletes in the NECC, Lipton currently ranks second in kills (305), third in kills per set (3.14), seventh in hitting percentage (.236), ninth in service aces (31), 17th in service aces per set (0.32), 12th in digs (145), 18th in digs per set (1.49), 10th in blocks (38, nine solo, 29 assisted), 18th in blocks per set (0.39), second in points (359.5), and fourth in points per set (3.7). Lipton also ranks No. 43 nationally in kills per set and points per set. 

GEORGE CHAPELL '08 | COACH OF THE YEAR 

Chapell led Endicott to its fifth straight NECC title last Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Elms. Under Chapell's guidance, the men's volleyball program has gone 96-56 overall in the last five years (.632 winning percentage), and reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in 2014. 

This season, Endicott currently ranks in the top-25 nationally in six categories including aces per set (No. 18, 1.84), assists per set (No. 25, 10.73), hitting percentage (No. 16, .249), kills per set (No. 24, 11.66), match won-loss percentage (No. 17, .677), and opponent hitting percentage (No. 18, .154). The Gulls are also positioned No. 30 in blocks per set (1.86), and No. 45 in digs per set (9.50). 

DANIEL TOTH | ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM 

Toth posted 188 kills (2.00 k/s), a .405 hitting percentage, 42 digs, and 87 total blocks (0.93 b/s, 16 solo, 71 assisted) for the Gulls this season in 94 sets played. Toth paced the conference in three out of the four blocking categories (block assists, blocks total, blocks per set), and also ranked No. 8 in kills/No. 13 in kills per set, and No. 2 in hitting percentage. 

Nationally, Toth is situated No. 12 in hitting percentage, and No. 21 in blocks per set. 

TROY RIORDEN | ALL-CONFERENC SECOND TEAM | ALL-SPORTSMANSHIP TEAM 

Riorden compiled 173 kills (2.08 kills/set), a .193 hitting percentage, 140 digs (1.69 d/s), 201.0 points (2.4 p/s) for Endicott in 83 sets played. Riorden also registered a .952 serve-receive percentage on 375 attempts. 

Riorden currently ranks No. 11 in the NECC in kills and kills per set, No. 12 in hitting percentage, No. 15 in digs and digs per set, No. 12 in points, and No. 14 in points per set.

Endicott (21-10 will host Stevens (29-5) this Saturday, April 22 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 1 PM.
