Men’s Volleyball Makes Quick Work Of Eastern Nazarene In Conference Opener, 3-0

QUINCY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team secured a swift 3-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene by scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-14 on Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center.

With the win, the Gulls improved to 6-8 overall and 1-0 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play. Meanwhile, Eastern Nazarene dropped to 3-2 overall/2-2 NECC in the setback.

The freshmen class of Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.), Tim Fieseler (Bridgewater, N.J.), Conner Holland (Derry, N.H.), Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.), and Chad Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) highlighted the win as the group combined for 18 kills, 13 assists, 10 digs, and 13 block assists. Fieseler stood out among the quintet with eight kills on 14 swings (.357), three digs, and two block assists.

Defensively, Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) tallied a match-high 16 digs. It marks the sixth time this season Healy has registered 10 or more digs in a match (16th career).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today's match was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • The first two sets only featured three tied scores and zero lead changes.
  • Set three saw five tied scores and two lead changes occur before Endicott erased an 8-5 deficit with a 7-0 run (12-8), and never looked back.
  • Dey finished with four kills, while Lipton added five, and Holland had one.
  • Riorden notched 13 assists and four digs.
  • Tyler Willgoos (Newington, Conn.) compiled five kills, three digs, and two block assists.
  • Daniel Toth (Glenwood, N.J.) connected for five kills on six swings (.833) to go along with four block assists.
  • As a team, the Gulls had 13 blocks (tied season-high).

FOR THE FOES

  • Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) paced the Lions with six kills, one assist, and seven digs.
  • Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) dished out 13 assists (tied for match-high).
  • Andrew Shaw (Weymouth, Mass.) and Derek Fowler (Williamstown, N.J.) both had three kills.

Endicott (6-8, 1-0 NECC) travels to Lesley University on Wednesday, February 15 for a conference matchup at 8 PM. Eastern Nazarene (3-2, 2-2 NECC) hosts Regis College next Thursday in league play at 7 PM.
