Gulls run streak to four, blank New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Endicott senior \#John Emery\# (Westford, Mass.) had a match-high 13 kills and swung at a .458 clip as the Gulls defeated the University of New Haven, 3-0, on Tuesday evening in New Haven, Conn. The Blue and Green, who won their fourth straight match in three games, used set scores of 30-20, 30-26 and 34-32 to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Endicott’s \#A.J. Witkofsky\# (Scotia, N.Y.) also had a strong evening for the Gulls, as the senior posted 11 kills and four blocks in the win. \#Ben Foster\# (Penfield, N.Y.) dished out 34 assists while sophomore \#David Lowe\# (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) registered 14 digs.

Endicott took a 30-20 win in the opening set, however the match was closely contested at the midpoint, 14-14. The game was also tied at 17-17 before the Gulls went on a 13-3 run and took a 1-0 lead in the match.

Endicott controlled the second set as well, taking a 30-26 victory. UNH had tied the score late in the set at 20-20, but the Gulls sealed the victory for a 2-0 lead.

In the third set, UNH fell behind quickly. The Gulls opened a 20-9 lead midway through the set, but the Chargers bounced back. Stringing a few scoring sprees together, UNH eventually tied the score a 29-29. The team's then exchanged points before the Gulls scored two straight and took the 34-32 win.

Gregg Brisbin led the Chargers with 10 kills, while Peter Kazlas and Julian du Pont each added seven kills. Ryan Earl handed out 30 assists and John Sedlock grabbed 10 digs.

Endicott returns to work on Friday evening when the Gulls host the Crimson of Harvard University at 7:00 p.m. The University of New Haven takes the court next on Friday, February 5 when the Chargers host Sacred Heart University in West Haven, Conn.
