Rivier Wins Third Straight Endicott March Mania Title

BEVERLY, MA - The Rivier men's volleyball team won its third straight Endicott March Mania Tournament with a decisive 3-0 triumph over Nazareth College.

The Raiders powered to 4-0 in the tourney on the strength of three straight wins over Naz, 30-16, 30-20, 30-28. Tournament MVP Jason Conetta (Holliston, MA) picked up nine digs in the win while Nhut Chau (Lawrence, MA) had 35 assists and Greg Stanton (Haverhill, MA) picked up 11 kills. Andrew Chace (East Providence, RI) was also named to the All-Tournament team from Rivier.

All-Tournament candidate Frank Leahy (Smithtown, NY) paced Nazareth with 38 assists while Joe Petzoldt (Phelps, NY) had nine kills. Chris DeHority (Rochester, NY) added eight digs in the loss and Kellen Gambeski (St. James, NY) also made the all-tourney team.

The Endicott men's volleyball team secured seventh place in the 12-team tournament. The Gulls defeated MIT 3-1 (18-30, 30-23, 33-31, 30-25) in their final match of the day.

Endicott's Dan Coleman (Millis, MA) earned All-Tournament Honorable Mention honors after leading the tourney with digs. He posted 21 digs in the win and recorded 18 kills.

Eric Hunter (Delmar, NY) and Matt Keepin (Harwinton, CT) added 16 and 14 kills, respectively, for the hosts, who finished 2-2 in the tournament. Jeremy Hamel (Industry, ME) dished out 52 assists in the win over MIT, which finished 1-3.

Praveen Pamidimukkala (Edison, NJ) finished with 20 kills and 18 digs for MIT, while Ryan Dean (Valencia, CA) had 40 assists and 13 digs. Scott Pollom (Indianapolis, IN) had 14 kills and four blocks while Kenneth Rosche (Singapore) chipped in 15 kills for the Engineers, who

Medaille knocked off SUNY New Paltz, 3-1, to capture third place (30-25, 27-30, 30-25, 30-10). Medaille's Joe Tilert (Angola, NY) and New Paltz's Pedro Medina (Brentwood, NY) were named to the All-Tournament team.

Ramapo overcame a 2-1 defecit to earn fifth place with a 3-2 win over Johnson & Wales, 3-2 (24-30, 30-26, 27-30, 31-29, 15-8) and end the tournament 3-1. All-Tournament selection David Ross (Perth Amboy, NJ) paced the Roadrunners with 24 kills and 15 digs while Shane Donohue (Freehold, NJ) added 11 kills and Jairo Sierra (Fair Lawn, NJ) handed out 34 helpers.

Johnson & Wales (2-2) received a team-high 18 kills from its All-Tournament candidate James Collins (East Hartford, CT). Ben Davies (Worcester, MA) chipped in 16 kills and Albert Trevino (San Antonio, TX) dished out 52 assists.
