BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott men's volleyball team forced three of the four games into extra points, but Division I Harvard University was able to get past the pesky Gulls, 3-1 (26-30, 32-30, 31-29, 31-29), Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Senior setter Eric Hunter (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) tied the Endicott record for assists in a four-game match, dishing out 57 helpers in a losing cause for the Gulls, who fell to 9-8 overall. The Crimson, who improved to 2-6 got double-digit kills from Luke McCrone (Shanty Bay, ONT), John Freese (Honolulu, HI) and Andy Nelson (Santa Barbara, CA). McCrone led the way with 19 kills, while Freese and Nelson each had 16 in the victory.

Freshman outside hitter Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville Regional) led all players with 25 kills for 28 points. He also dug up 15 balls and senior co-captain Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA/Athol) added 19 kills and two aces for 21 points to go along with 10 digs.

Junior Matt Keepin (Harwinton, CT/Lewis S. Millis) chipped in eight kills and three blocks while freshmen Dan Coleman (Millis, MA/Millis) continued his solid defensive play. The libero, who broke the school record for digs in each of the last three games, picked up 23 digs while sophomores Jeremy Hamel (Industry, ME/Mount Blue) and Cory Merrill (Peru, ME/Peru) rounded out the top EC performers. Hamel had three kills, two aces and two digs and Merrill picked up 11 digs.

Endicott is back in action Sunday afternoon when it hosts the Milwaukee School of Engineering (1).
