BEVERLY, MA - Dan Coleman (Millis, MA/Millis) set an Endicott record for digs in a three-game match, recording 20 in a 3-0 sweep of Emmanuel College Thursday night in Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association play.

The Gulls raised their record to 9-5 overall (5-1 NECVA) on wins of 30-18, 32-30 and 30-17. The Saints fell to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in NECVA action after losing to Endicott for the second time this season.

Freshman Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville) led the way for Endicott, recording 14 kills, two blocks and one ace for a team-high 16 points. Ostrander also had nine digs, while senior Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA/Athol) chipped in with 13 points on 13 kills to go along with 15 digs.

The turning point in the match came in the middle game with the Gulls trailing 29-28. Coflesky tied the game on a kill before the Saints returned the favor to take a 30-29 advantage.

However, Endicott capitalized on two attack errors - the second of which was forced by a combined block by Matt Keppin (Harwinton, CT/Lewis S. Mills) and George Chapell (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) - to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Chapell and Keeping each finished with four blocks and Eric Hunter (Delamr, NY/Bethlehem) handed out 40 assists in the win.

The hosts controlled play in the third game. With the game tied 9-9, Endicott closed the match on a 21-8 run led by Coflesky's five kills and Chapell's four kills. Hunter dished out 12 helpers during the run.

The Gulls travel to Elms College Saturday (2:00 PM) while Emmanuel visits Lasell next Wednesday night.
