Stats

The Gulls stepped into new territory in tonight's match for their first-ever meeting against the reigning Division III Champions, Springfield College. Endicott was downed by Springfield 0-3 in the Pride's opening match of the season. Springfield has won three-straight Division III national championships in a row, and four all-time (since the inaugural tournament in 1997). The match was the kind of challenge Endicott looks forward to and will use it as a measuring stick for the future.

Endicott's Jeremy Fontaine (Belchertown, MA) set up the defense by recording five blocks, while behind him, libero Craig Steszewski (Rochester, NY) tallied five digs. Fontaine also led the team in kills with five.

Springfield College was led by junior swing hitter Brandon Mueller (Bartlett, Ill.), who totaled 19.5 points (16 kills, 2 service aces, 3 block assists).

Endicott now looks forward to kicking off their NECVA schedule on Monday night. The Gulls will host the Saints of Emmanuel College at 7:00 PM.
