Western New England Tops Men's Tennis, 6-3

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team lost their its against Western New England on Saturday afternoon, 6-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.

In doubles play, Endicot came out strong thanks to the pairing of Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) / Cooper Walters (Madeira Beach, Fla.) as they earned a tough 8-5 victory at the No. 2 flight. That win was then followed up by another 8-5 victory from Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) at the No. 3 spot to give the Gulls a 2-1 lead headed into singles action.

Meanwhile, in singles, the Golden Bears earned four straight victories at the No. 2 (6-1, 6-0), No. 3 (6-1, 6-1), No. 6 (6-3, 6-2), and No. 1 (7-5, 6-1) positions, respectively, to ulitimately secure the match.

The Gulls were able to end on a high note as Toler notched a hard-fought win at the No. 5 singles flight (4-6, 7-5, 6-4) to close out the day.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (7-10) will host cross-town rival Gordon College on Tuesday, April 16 at 3:30 PM.  Western New England (8-3) will travel to Wentworth on Tuesday, April 16 at 7:00 PM.
