Men's Tennis Downs Wentworth On Senior Day, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team topped Wentworth, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts on Senior Day.

In a ceremony prior to the match, seniors Ozan Cermik (Cumberland, R.I.)Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.), Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.), and Anthony Rinaldi (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) were all honored for their contributions towards the men's tennis program and the Endicott community.

Meanwhile, for the match, the Gulls swept all three doubles positions and received wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles to clinch the WIN against the Leopards.  

The pairings of Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) and Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) Collin Dinardo (Westport, Mass.) put the squad ahead quickly 2-0 with 8-2 and 8-1 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. 

Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) and Cooper Walters (Madeira Beach, Fla.) then finished off the sweep moments later with an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 position. 

In singles action, Book made it 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at the No. 3 flight while Papadopoulos secured the victory for the Gulls with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot.

The Blue and Green also saw McCleary, Rinkert, and Dinardo earn victories at the No. 4 (6-2, 6-1), No. 6 (6-1, 6-0), and No. 1 (6-3, 6-2) singles spots.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are currently on a two-match win streak headed into tomorrow's contest at No. 10 Brandies. 
  • Book, Dinardo, McCleary, Rinkert, and Papadopoulos were all double winners in today's action.

Endicott (5-4) is back in action tomorrow, March 31 traveling to Brandies at 2:00 PM.  Wentworth (5-7) hosts Salve Regina Tuesday, April 2 at 7:00 PM.
