Endicott Falls to Wheaton in Non-Conference Play

Charles Book lines up a forehand.

NORTON, Mass.-  The Endicott men's tennis team fell to Wheaton, 7-0 on Thursday evening.

Wheaton took all three doubles flights to start the match by a score of 7-5 in each one respectively.

Today's match was played in conjunction with NCAA Division I and II rules which only awards one point for winning the doubles portion of the match (best of 3, one point). This is in contrast to NCAA Division III rules which awards one point for each doubles flight won by a team.

In singles play, Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) played a tough set at the three spot, however, he fell by a score of 7-5, 6-4, 6-4, and 10-7.  The Lyons were able to win the rest of the sets starting with No. 1 where Sam Pham (Boston, Mass.) forced a third set before falling (6-4, 3-6, 11-9), as did Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lamond, Calif.) at No. 2 singles (2-6, 3-6, 11-9). The Lyons would go on to take the remaining three matches by scores of 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and No. 6 by a 6-3, 6-1 final.
