CCC TOURNAMENT: No. 4 Roger Willams Edges No. 5 Endicott, 5-3

BRISTOL, R.I. – Fourth-seeded Roger Williams University (RWU) defeated fifth-seeded Endicott, 5-3, on Saturday afternoon in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament at the RWU Tennis Courts.

Tied 3-3 in singles action, the Hawks responded behind victories from Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) at No. 4 singles (2-6, 6-0, 6-3) and No. 1 singles (1-6, 7-5, 6-2), respectively, to secure the tournament victory.

Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) was a double-winner for the Gulls as the senior claimed an 8-5 triumph at No. 2 doubles with Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) in addition to his No. 6 singles victory (6-2, 6-4). Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) rounded out the list of winners for Endicott with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 singles.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Book finished his freshman season as the team leader in singles victories (12-5).
  • McAndrews and Toler conclude the year undefeated in doubles (5-0, all at No. 2).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott sees its 2016-17 season come to a close at 11-8 overall. Roger Williams (10-7) will travel to first-seeded Eastern Nazarene in the CCC Tournament semifinal round on Wednesday, May 3 at 3 PM.
