Gordon Slips Past Endicott, 6-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team lost to Gordon College, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon in a league matchup at the South Campus Courts. 

Gordon produced a 2-1 advantage from doubles (No. 1, No. 3), and won three straight singles flights (No. 3, No. 5, No. 2) to lock up its eighth straight victory of the season. 

Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) was a double-winner for Endicott on the day. The senior teamed up with Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) at No. 2 doubles for an 8-3 triumph, and also secured a comeback win at No. 6 singles by a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 score. 

Thomas Brent (Gorham, Maine) rounded out the list of highlights with a gritty 6-3, 4-6, 11-9 win at No. 4 singles.

"That was a tough loss for us today, but it came against a very solid Gordon team," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "We will now shift our focus towards our last regular season matchup against Wentworth before we head into the CCC playoffs." 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • McAndrews and Toler are undefeated as a doubles pairing this season (3-0 at No. 2 | 3-0 in CCC play).
  • Brent is 8-2 in singles play, which includes an unblemished mark in league action (5-0 CCC). 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (10-7, 4-3 CCC0 hosts Wentworth on Tuesday, April 25 at 3:30 PM. Prior to the match, McAndrews will be honored as part of a Senior Day ceremony by the program. Gordon (15-4, 6-1 CCC) welcomes Eastern Nazarene to its campus next Tuesday at 4 PM.
