Endicott Falls To St. Anselm, 8-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Endicott men's tennis team lost to St. Anselm College by an 8-1 score on Friday evening at the Carr Center.

Freshman Justin Toler (Concord, Mass.) picked up the lone victory for the Gulls with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 1 singles over Hawks' junior Eric Howes (Shawnee, Kan.).

St. Anselm took all three doubles flights – No. 1 (8-3), No. 2 (8-3), No. 3 (8-5) – and singles flights 2-5 in the win. Daniel Kmetz (Hebron, Conn.) gave the Hawks a 4-0 advantage with his 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles, while Adam Weinstein (Vernon Rockville, Conn.) followed Endicott's No. 1 singles win with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 2 to clinch the match.

"We played under some tough conditions tonight but after a slow start we showed some good fight in singles," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "One bright spot out of singles was Justin Toler's great win at No. 1."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Toler picked up his first career victory at No. 1 singles tonight. 
  • He is now 3-1 overall in his collegiate career.

  • Weinstein, Kmetz, Brian Kavanagh (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Brian Madden (Manchester, N.H.) were all double-winners for the Hawks.
