CCC Athletes of the Week - Week Ending March 22nd
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- After posting a perfect 6-0 combined record (3-0 #1 Singles, 3-0 #1 Doubles) on the week, Endicott men's tennis freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week. Kirkpatrick's performance helped the Gulls to a 2-1 record at the Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, S.C. Endicott returns to action on Thursday as they travel across the bay to square off against North Shore rival Salem State at 3:00 p.m.
Kirkpatrick teamed with Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) at #1 doubles to post three straight 8-3 victories against Thomas, FDU-Fordham and Ramapo. The freshman then posted three straight-set victories at #1 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-2 vs. Thomas, 6-0, 6-0 against FDU-Fordham and 6-3, 6-1 against Ramapo. Endicott defeated Thomas 9-0 and FDU-Fordham 8-1 before falling to Ramapo 5-4 to conclude their trip.
For the season, Kirkpatrick now sports a 4-2 record at both #1 singles and #1 doubles.
