Men's Soccer Falls At Colby, 1-0

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Endicott men's soccer team fell in a tight 1-0 battle at Colby College in Tuesday night's non-conference showdown at Serdjenian Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Blue and Green nearly broke through at the 64 minute mark, as Max Karkos (Wethersfield, Conn.) broke free for an open transition opportunity that he left just wide of the net.

They followed up that opportunity with an Aidan Sheehan (Arlington, Mass.) snipe in the 68th minute, but Colby's goalkeeper wrapped up the scoring chance relatively easily, keeping the game scoreless.

In the 77th minute, the contest finally saw a goal, as the Mules headed a ball into the back of the net off of a perfect cross from the right side.

With 20 seconds remaining in the barn burner, the Gulls' ball movement set up a great opportunity to knot the score, but Konrad Krysztoforski's (Bydgoszcz, Poland) shot attempt from inside the box was deflected up into the cross bar and cleared out to thwart the late attempt.

The Gulls set up one final attack, but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net before the final whistle sounded.

Brady O'Toole (Concord, Mass.) made his second career start in net and was stellar once again. He scooped up seven saves, perhaps the best of which came in the 27th minute on a slick diving play to keep the Mules off the scoreboard for the time being.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • O'Toole held opponents scoreless through his first 167 minutes of play. He has posted 10 saves in 11 shots on net faced through his first two contests (.909 save percentage).
  • Sheehan paced the offensive efforts with two shots (both on goal) in his 79 minutes of play.
  • Gavin Goodlad (Rockville Center, N.Y.) made his season debut and got the start in today's match.
