Evan Couchot Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT® RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's soccer student-athlete Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Men's Soccer NCAA Division III District 1 First Team. 

The District 1 team includes all schools in Massachusetts and Maine. The CoSIDA Academic All-District® Teams recognize the top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom. 

Couchot is a biology & biotechnology major with a 3.7 GPA and was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® First Team in 2017, and 2018. He's been on the Dean's List multiple times while at Endicott and is involved with the Endicott Scholars Program. For his efforts in the classroom, Couchot was also named the 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Senior Scholar-Athlete. 

For one of his three internships, Couchot interned with Prospective Research, Inc., Jan 2017 - August 2017. He did extensive work with varying fermentation conditions and also developed a new form of liquid bioassay to greatly increase company productivity in the field of early antibiotic discovery.

On the pitch, Couchot appeared in 19 games starting in 18. He led the team in goals (23) and points (50). On September 27, Couchot eclipsed the 100 career point mark at Endicott. 

He also set individual season records for points (50), points per game (2.63), goals (23), and goals per game (1.21), and was named the 2019 CCC Offensive Player of the Year. 

Nationally, Couchot ranked second in goals (23), third in points per game (2.63), fourth in goals per game (1.21), and fourth in total points (50).

CoSIDA Academic All-District Program Requirements

The CoSIDA Academic All-District™ program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic performances.

All First Team Academic All-District winners, which includes eight districts total, move to the national ballot and are then voted upon to the national team by members of CoSIDA's Academic All-America Committee.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
