Gulls Top Nichols, 2-1, In Double Overtime

DUDLEY, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team traveled to Nichols College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game and came away with a 2-1 victory in double overtime.

Less than four minutes into the contest, Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) netted his seventh goal of the season to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead.

The Bison tied the game up at the 19:58 mark with a tally from Evan Lemoine (Rutland, Mass.)

Both teams saw several scoring chances in the second half but were not able to capitalize so the contest went into extra time.

Endicott and Nichols continued to battle throughout two overtime periods but ultimately the Gulls came out on top when Jesse Martinez (Walpole, Mass.) found the back of the net at 104:25.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Jesse Haines (Villanova, Pa.) got the start in net for the Gulls while Jack Bacon (Lincoln, R.I.) came in for the second half and recorded three saves throughout the remainder of the contest. 
  • Jon Breed (Atkinson, N.H.) and Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) were both credited with assists.
  • Endicott held a 17-13 shot advantage.
  • The Gulls are 4-1-1 on the road this season.

Endicott (4-4-2, 1-0-2 CCC) hosts Curry College on Tuesday, October 2 at 7 PM. Nichols (6-3-1, 0-2-1 CCC) travels to Fitchburg State at 4 PM on Wednesday, October 3.
