BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team hosted Trinity (Conn.) on Wednesday night in Hempstead Stadium and were handed a close 2-1 overtime loss.
The Gulls struck first in the 10th minute of the contest when Max Robbins (Longmeadow, Mass.) sent a pass to Bobby Ivatts (Walpole, Mass.), who then crossed to Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio). Couchot was able to gather the ball in front of the net and shoot past the Trinity netminder.
Endicott continued to control play for the rest of the first half and start of the second, but the Bantams were able to tie the game at 1-1 on a tally from Max Cottrell (Dover, Mass.) at the 78:31 mark.
Both teams continued to look for the game-winner but neither could convert in regulation.
With just under six minutes remaining in the overtime period, Trinity's Henry Farr (Philadelphia, Pa.) found the back of the net to give the Bantams their first win of the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott held a 13-11 shot advantage throughout the contest.
- Evan Couchot is now one goal shy of tying the program career goals record of 24.
- Jack Bacon (Lincoln, R.I.) ended the contest with two saves, while Andrew Clark (Short Hills, N.J.) recorded six.
- The Gulls also held the advantage on corner opportunities, 6-2.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (0-3) travels to Plymouth State on Saturday, September 8 for a 4 PM contest. Trinity (1-0) travels to Williams for a 2 PM game on Saturday, September 8.
