Itoh, Weinstein Collect CCC Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott senior midfielder Shintaroh Itoh (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan) and junior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) were both honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) earlier today for their performances from last week. Itoh was named the CCC Offensive Player of the Week, while Weinstein claimed CCC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

In a 2-0 week for the Gulls (Oct. 5-11) on the road, Itoh tallied one goal and one assist to push Endicott's win streak to nine straight games. Itoh picked up his sixth assist of the season to aid Endicott in its a 1-0 win over Salem St. and also scored the game-winning goal against Curry last Saturday in a 2-1 double-overtime thriller.

Itoh is currently third on the team in goals (4) this season and second in the CCC in assists.

Weinstein made 18 saves in goal, including a career-high  11 saves against Curry in Endicott's 2-1 double-overtime win on Saturday to help the Gulls finish the week at 2-0 overall.

Earlier in the week, Weinstein record his ninth shutout of the season against Salem St. in Endicott's 1-0 win over the Vikings to establish a new program record for shutouts in a single-season with nine, which included a span of eight in a row from September 12 to October 5.

Although Endicott's shutout streak was snapped against the Colonels, Weinstein did win his ninth consecutive game in net to bump his record to 10-1-1 on the season. Weinstein has only allowed five goals this season (best among CCC goalkeepers), and currently leads the conference in save percentage (.896). Weinstein is also ranked in the top-15 among all NCAA Division III men's soccer goalkeepers in goals against average at 0.40.

Endicott (10-1-1, 5-0 CCC) will host Williams College on Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Hempstead Stadium.
