Diego Maillo Scores Twice In Gulls' 3-0 Win Over Eastern Nazarene On Senior Night

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team shut out the visiting Eastern Nazarene Lions, 3-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday night at Hempstead Stadium to wrap up Homecoming Weekend on Senior Night for the Class of 2016.

With the win, Endicott has posted seven consecutive shutouts and improved to 8-1-1 as the team sits atop the CCC at 4-0-0, while Eastern Nazarene fell to 6-5, 0-4 CCC.

Sophomore forward Diego Maillo (Plantation, Fla.) netted two goals for the Gulls and senior midfielder Shintaroh Itoh (Nerima, Tokyo, Japan) booted the third as Endicott celebrated their seventh win in a row.

Senior forward Abdulla Al Khalifa (Riffa, Bahrain) tallied two assists on the night for the Gulls.

Maillo broke open the match with a header in traffic in front of the box off a corner kick from senior forward Abdulla Al Khalifa (Riffa, Bahrain) that sailed into the back left of the net in the 24th minute.

Maillo found net again in the 47th minute (unassisted) and Itoh added his third goal of the season (Al Khalifa) on a pass from the middle that he one-touched to the back left in the 82nd minute.

  • The Gulls have won seven of their last eight matches by way of a shutout.
