Jared Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) opened the scoring just seven minutes in when he finished a rebound off of the St. Joseph’s goalie Robert Petrosillo (Methuen, Mass.). It was Rizzo’s third goal of the season.

Eight minutes later, Jorge got the first of his brace when he was played into the box by Bobby Durben (Stow, Mass.) Jorge ran onto the ball and finished from close range for his first goal of the season, while Durben collected his first points with the assist.

After taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room, the Gulls continued their penchant for early scoring, as Jorge finished from the right side of the net just under five minutes into the second half. After a shot from Justin Lavallee (Wrentham, Mass.) was blocked, the ball fell to sophomore Alex Elia (Somers, Conn.), who touched it on to Jorge for the tally. It was the first assist of the year for Elia and Jorge’s first and second markers of the season.

The Gulls tightened up their defenses and completed the shutout, outshooting the visitors by an 11-9 margin. Monks sophomore Dan McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) had two attempts on goal, but both were snuffed out by freshman goalie Aaron Kanter (Medfield, Mass.)

Kanter made three stops on the night to collect his third shutout of the season and improve his record to 3-2-2. Petrosillo made two saves but allowed two goals in the first half and took the loss for the Monks, dropping his record to 2-1.
