Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. –
Both teams had their opportunities throughout regulation and the overtime periods, but Saturday’s Endicott and Gordon men’s soccer match resulted in a 0-0 2OT tie in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.

The Gulls, after competing in their second straight double overtime match, move their 2011 record 0-5-2 (0-2-1 CCC).  Gordon is now 1-4-3 (0-0-2 CCC).

Endicott will next face Tufts on Tuesday, September 27th at 4:00 pm in Medford.  Gordon hosts the fifth-ranked team in the nation, Amherst, Wednesday, September 28th at 7:30 pm.

Towards the end of the first half at 43:06, nearly two minutes after Scots freshman Matt Allen (Ashburnham, Mass.) subbed into the game, Allen rocked a shot just high over the crossbar that would have put Gordon ahead 1-0.

Endicott had their opportunity to score in regulation in the 76th minute after sophomore Bobby Durben (Stow, Mass.) delivered a corner kick into the box that sophomore Alex Elia (Somers, Conn.) headed wide the right post.

In the first overtime, the Gulls nearly scored the golden goal as solid header attempts by sophomore Brett Longobucco (Torrington, Conn.) that ended up wide of the net.

Finally, in the waning moments of the match, Gordon senior John Clancy (Woodridge, Ill.) sent a ball towards the net from midfield that bounced over the approaching Endicott goalie’s hands and would have gone into the net, were it not for a Gulls defender who headed the ball away.

Endicott keeper Aaron Kanter (Medfield, Mass.) made three saves between the posts while his counterpart, Ryan Coil (Brentwood, Tenn.), made one save in goal.
